Claremont.

Not too much to say, just hanging out with Marg most of the morning, and both Marg and Mark late afternoon. It was lovely weather, in the upper 80’s, and Marg and I headed for the Claremont botanical gardens in the morning, but it was full, with no parking. But, what the hey… we instead took a couple of mile hike into nearby Marshall Canyon.

We were close to the top of the trail, and about to go on when Marg told us to turn around and get going. There was a bear on the trail. I couldn’t see the bear at first, as I was looking at the wrong fork on the trail, but when I did – well, it was a bear alright, maybe 150 feet from us, and looking interested, and sauntering toward us. We made noise, we lifted our arms, we walked away, and the bear continued slowly following us. There were some good photos there, as the bear was so close, but I only got one, just as the bear turned off onto another fork of the trail, apparently losing interest in us. And just think; I had my untouched $50 can of bear spray in my car.

Not too much else. Marg and Mark had an appointment, I sort of drifted into a long nap, and the afternoon disappeared. We went out for a Mexican dinner, and Marg and I went to see the new documentary about the week in October 1972 when John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosted the Mike Douglas show. Marg was 18 at that time, and I was 21 and had just moved with Randi, Marilyn, and Suzanne into our house on Kernochan Avenue in Hempstead (where this blog started, more or less). So, memories of a long time ago. A good movie.

Tomorrow, Marg heads out around 10 am for work and I will later head into Los Angeles to pick up Russ up around 4 pm this afternoon, and then the next leg of this journey begins.
